Peony is famed as the King of the Flowers for its gorgeous outlooking and qualities. It belongs to the family of Chinese herbaceous peony and it is a kind of shrubs. It has a cultivation history of more than 1500 years.

The peony was cultivated by man in Luoyang started in Sui Dynasty, flourishing in Tang Dynasty, then ranked first in Song Dynasty. After Li Zhengfeng wrote the excellent poem "In the morning, it looks like a drunken beauty, and in the evening, it is wrapped in a garment scented with celestial fragrance.", peony gained the repution of "celestial beauty". Ou Yangxiu said: "Luoyang peony got the first place in China." From then on, "The peony of Luoyang are the finest in the world."is approved by the people in China. At that times, the skills of selecting and growing new breeds as well as grafting had been widely used. "Yao huang" and "Weizi" was separatedly regarded as the King and the Queen among the peony flowers. They and other beautiful varieties were firstly cultivated in those days.
